Enhancing technological integration, productivity, and supply chain efficiency can further strengthen the competitive capacity of Bangladesh's industrial sector, observed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen.

He made these remarks yesterday, Monday, during the inauguration of a 'smart warehouse' of Paxar Bangladesh Limited, a concern of Avery Dennison, located in the Dhaka EPZ under the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA).

The US Ambassador said that US companies can play an active role in enhancing Bangladesh's industrial capacity through technology, skills, and investment. Such initiatives will further deepen the trade and economic relations between the two countries.

He informed that this 830-square-meter smart warehouse has been established with the goal of quickly and efficiently supplying necessary labels and related items for the ready-made garments and footwear industries. In this digital and automated warehouse, along with storing approximately 25,000 cartons simultaneously, all operations—including receiving goods, picking according to orders, packaging, and delivery—will be managed automatically.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, the US Ambassador met with BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain at the Dhaka EPZ Zone Office. During the meeting, both parties expressed expectations of working together to tap into Bangladesh's economic potential.

The Executive Chairman of BEPZA stated that these technology-driven investments are increasing the productivity of industrial enterprises in the EPZ and strengthening the overall export sector of the country.

It is worth noting that Paxar Bangladesh Limited has been operating in the Dhaka EPZ since 2003. To date, the company has invested approximately USD 81 million, currently employing around 1,500 people.
